Using the TV remotes' Zoom feature seems like the simplest, best answer. I'm learning about this too, for som reason aspect ratio questions seem to be popping up more and more.
You can chop off the ends to achive the correct aspect ratio but now the whole thing is to small and Nero just can't stretch it to fit. It is not going to ever give you a satisfactory conversion just because it has to work with the original screen size as the maximum sizing. This may be an exersize in futility as far as doing this with Nero is concerned. The fix for this (Thanks larrylje!) is to use the remote on your TV and zoom in a bit until the bands are gone.something you could have easily done with the original 16:9 aspect ratio. The reason you are getting the bands all around now is because the aspect ratio has changed to 4:3. This is to get rid of the black bands, top and bottom right?Īs you are finding out this is a damn big job and the correct end results are about what you are getting. Lets back waaaay up and look at why you want to change the aspect ratio in the first place. It usually starts with 1a23 or something like that.Īt one point I asked you to tell me the source/size/file type of your video. It would be very helpful if you could post a Nero log.Ĭ:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.logĬopy/Paste into a reply.

That is why I'd like you to install version 3.1.0.21, replacing your newer 3.1.0.25. So by installing the known bug free versions you will accomplish that as well. This will correct the corrupted files and replace missing or misplaced files. The fix for that is to remove it and reinstall. Older versions do not install over newer versions unless removed completely.
Remove your currently installed version completely using the Nero CleanTool utility: They may not be the latest versions but they are the least buggy versions. That is the reasoning I'm using to have you remove your currently installed versions and install the known bug free versions I provided links to. If I can do this and you cannot, then that seems logical. So this is telling me that there is a problem with your Nero. Again, I was able to successfully change the aspect ratio and keep the audio. So I repeated these tests with my Nero 6. Again the results were a clip with a changed aspect ratio and working audio. I changed the aspect ratio using Nero Vision. I then did the process again, this time not using Recode/Nero Digital. The end result was that my clip was converted back to DVD-Video and now had the new 4:3 aspect ratio, the audio was present. I managed to change the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3. I took a clip from a DVD and then processed it through Recode/Nero Digital. What I did first was to duplicate the method that Nero Support suggested: Cannot use Nero to get rid of black bars above and below the picture.Īpproach issue: Following Nero support's advice to use Nero Digital for something that NeroVision can do with a lot less encoding/processing. From your post I see two problems and an issue with your approach.ġ.
